Editorial Methodology
Every islands.fun guide is researched against official and first-hand sources, reviewed before publication, dated visibly and corrected in the open. Nothing is published as a placeholder.
Research and Sources
Guides start from official sources: tourism authorities, park and protected-area rules, transport operators and municipal information. Where useful, they add first-hand observation and established editorial sources.
Facts that change, such as permits, transport connections and access rules, are treated as volatile: they carry a source and a verification date, and they are rechecked on a schedule rather than assumed to stay true.
Review and Updates
Each page shows an updated date and a last-verified date, plus the reviewer responsible. Substantive changes update the dates; trivial edits do not reset them.
When coverage is not ready, the island stays listed in its region overview without a guide link. We would rather show a smaller catalog than publish thin pages.
Translations
English is the working language. Spanish and Portuguese versions are prioritized where they serve readers best: Spanish for the Canary and Balearic Islands, Portuguese for the Azores, Madeira and Porto Santo.
A translation is only published after human review. Pages are never machine-translated straight to publication, and a missing translation falls back to English with a visible label rather than pretending to exist.
What We Do Not Publish
No placeholder pages, no invented detail, no live claims we cannot support. Weather, sea and trail conditions appear only when a reliable data source exists; until then, guides describe seasonal patterns instead.
